It seemed a bit of a joke when some time ago the first real aero helmets in the peloton appeared. It looked just really a bit strange. Now that is surely different. The helmets still do fall in platoon, but they are in design is clearly improved. Outside the pro peloton are less common. You see them only sporadically. The offer is also limited, and the prices are a bit higher compared to the non-aero helmets. We have some time with the Specialized S-Works Evade driven around.
First impression helmet radiates sheer speed. Fewer openings esa hubble and aerodynamics. Black with red stripes also contribute to this. It is noteworthy that only two holes are on the top of the helmet. They look a bit like the air intakes on the hood of muscle car. The holes are just at the front, side and rear. Clearly less holes and therefore less open than regular helmets as the Prevail example. Wondering how the ventilation on the bike will be. See you at the top than the helmet you see good drop shape and how narrow the helmet is. Traditional helmet are often much wider than your head itself, but at the Evade is clearly different. The view will be getting used to, but that is all.
In practice Striking is how well the helmet. I actually did not assume that the helmet would fit me, it is a size Medium (Large I am at least used to), but the helmet is perfect. He does very well around my head and Mindset fit system works very nice with dial on the back. The straps running down your face, you can hardly feel and go past your ears back, comfortable to wear so!
The big problem with aero helmets is ventilation. Aerodynamics and ventilation holes do not go well together. Despite the limited number of air holes (especially on top) Evade the apparent esa hubble good ventilation. There is no question of feeling of overheating or the like. It is, of course, the idea that the wind passes through the helmet. At a regular helmet you have a much more open structure. What I want to say is that when you a reasonable speed helmet esa hubble well ventilated. You go very slowly, like a very steep climb, the heat will be more difficult road. The makers recognize this too, and partly because of the professional teams use the Evade or the Prevail, depending on the type and stage of the circumstances. esa hubble The large holes on the back doing their job. You notice that there has been thought because you really notice the wind passes through your mind. The open structure on your mind works well, you notice that no air passes along some nice cools. The helmet seems to produce less noise past your ears. Strong winds can really be annoying and sometimes it seems that the aerodynamic shape reduces this. A nice perk.
Min - good ventilation is needed in terms of speed, with long, hot climb where the speed is very low, this can be a disadvantage - you can get along without being seen, but it is an eyecatcher
Conclusion Aero is everything to me what is going well, but the Evade's become part of my standard. The fit and comfort is very good and important, esa hubble I think helmet also beautiful! Tough thing with the black and red stripes.
You could say that we mortals do not benefit greatly from aerodynamic esa hubble parts and accessories. According Specialized helmet would have saved 46 seconds at a distance of 40km. I do not know how you keep track of laps, but the difference I never go out of it. But let it be but always blow in the lowlands and that always seems to come forward. Then some aero helmet of course esa hubble completely in his element. Evade the cuts just what the wind better than a helmet with open structure. Tom Boonen noticed once he notice the difference really good as his head as 'outside' the peloton crosses to look ahead. He noted that this was much easy to evade than the Prevail. For our money that evade the life of the lonely cyclist in the polder with the wind full on the nose anyway just makes something easier. Made for Holland so!
